Don’t let valuable precious metals slip through your fingers
A recent trip to our town recycling yard (once called the “town dump”) convinced us that a lot of people are tossing an awful lot of stuff during the time they are staying at home because of Covid-19. They’re cleaning out their basements, attics, garages, and storage rooms. That’s probably a good thing to do. Decluttering and cleaning out are great projects to take on right now. They help us feel like we are making progress and getting organized, in a time when we feel stuck and out of control.

Remote control devices contain gold and silver
Old audio components like stereo receivers and amplifiers and even speakers, which contain gold
And Of Course, the Obvious Items . . .
There are certain items in everyone’s home that clearly contain gold or silver that can be profitably recycled. So we doubt that you would ever toss them! But just to be sure, let us mention:
Trophies and awards
Old items of “costume jewelry” (which can still contain enough gold and silver to offer a good payback)
“Cheap” old watches that might have gold-filled cases
Old eyeglass frames, which often contain silver and gold
Knives, spoons and forks and other items of tableware, which often contain more silver than people realize
