Recovering Silver from Paints, Inks and Other Liquids

At Specialty Metals and Refiners, we can recover silver from a number of different liquids, including these:

  • Paints

  • Printing inks

  • Chemicals that were used to process photographic and x-ray films

  • Chemicals that were used in a number of industrial processes

  • Used electrolytic chemicals that were used in electroplating processes

How Do We Recover Silver from Those Sources?

In general, recovering silver from those liquids involves introducing other chemicals into them. These added chemicals cause chemical reactions in which the silver molecules they contain to clump together. Because those “clumps” of silver weigh more than the other liquids, they fall to the bottom of the containers where they other liquids remain.

Those clumps, which form a sediment, are physically removed – sometimes, just scooped out and set aside. At other times, additional chemical processes must be used, and sometimes, the sediment is put into centrifuges that separate the silver from other substances.

As an investor in silver, all you need to know is that here at Specialty Metals Smelters and Refiners, we know what to do to extract silver from your silver-bearing liquids.

How Do You Know if Your Liquid Chemical Contains Silver that Can Be Extracted Profitably?

Making that determination is quite simple for you, the investor. You send us a sample of the liquid you have (be it ink, paint, developing chemicals, whatever) and we test it for you. In most all cases, you will not need to send us substantial amounts of liquid – just a small sample will be enough.

Want to know more? Give our silver recycling consultants a call at 800-426-2344 and tell us what you have. We will explain a simple, convenient way to send us your samples for testing. And after we test, we will issue you a report on how much silver you can reclaim from your liquids, as well as an estimate of its dollar value.

As always, our consultants are waiting to give you the answers you need on turning silver scrap of all kinds into cash.
