Eight Movies that Will Keep You Charged Up about Precious Metals while You Are Stuck at Home

You’re someone who loves to invest in precious metals. But what have you been doing to keep yourself motivated about your investments while you’ve been logging time holed up at home?

Over the last few weeks on this blog, we’ve suggested some motivational ideas that will work, whether you invest in gold scrap, platinum scrap, palladium scrap, silver scrap, or something else. We’ve suggested, for example, that you inventory your precious metals holdings, review your 2019 tax strategies, or search your home for precious metals you might have overlooked.

Today, we would like to address the issue of motivation because, let’s face it, many of us are getting a bit bored and grumpy while we’re spending a lot of time cooped up at home. What’s a good remedy? We would like to suggest that you watch some of the movies that we list below.

They all deal with heists involving precious metals or jewelry. Even though they might not all teach deep insights about how to profit in precious metals, they are all exciting. We think they can help you stay charged up about your investments.

Oceans 11 (2001)

Danny Ocean and a band of 10 colorful sidekicks figure out an elaborate way to rob three different casinos simultaneously. This film stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Matt Damon. Lots of fun and action.

To Catch a Thief (1955)

John Robie, a retired master jewel thief, sets out to prove his innocence by capturing a cat burglar who is impersonating him. Set on the gorgeous French Riviera, this Hitchcock classic stars Clark Gable and Grace Kelly. A classic thriller with a pair of superstar romantic leads.

The Pink Panther (1963)

The bumbling Inspector Clouseau, played unforgettably by Peter Sellars, goes to Rome to stop “The Phantom,” a master jewel thief. One of the greatest film comedies of all time.

The Italian Job (2003)

After being left for dead by an accomplice they trusted, a team of gold thieves executes a gold heist to get back at the man who betrayed them. Full of great chases and nail-biting suspense. The cast includes Ed Norton, Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron.

Goldfinger (1964)

In this classic film, James Bond (played by Sean Connery) foils Auric Goldfinger, an evil genius who plans to contaminate the gold at Fort Knox. Lots of fun, plus it has that classic title song performed by Shirley Bassey. Also stars Honor Blackman.

Topkapi (1964)

This film is still regarded as one of the greatest jewel heist movies of all time. A team of master thieves uses elaborate strategies to steal an emerald-encrusted dagger from the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. The cast includes Melina Mercouri, Peter Ustinov, Maximilian Schell and Robert Morley.

The Wrecking Crew (1968)

It’s easy to overlook this older film about a gold heist, but it’s a lot of fun and worth seeing. After $1 billion worth of gold has been stolen from a Danish train, the U.S. government sends agent Matt Helm (played by Dean Martin) to investigate. Also stars Elke Sommer.

Muppets Most Wanted (2014)

Here’s one you can watch with kids who might be sheltering in your house. A false Kermit the Frog is stealing jewelry, so the real Kermit and his band of Muppet sidekicks set out to solve the case and redeem Kermit’s name. Also stars humans Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais.
