Service for Processing Hard-to-Recycle Precious Metal Items!

Sometimes a customer will call us up and ask how we can recycle items that are relatively simple and straightforward to process. If you have a platinum engagement or wedding ring, for example, you can send it to us so we can test it and retrieve the precious metal it contains.

But what if you have something that is a bit more complicated? For example, what if you have an item that contains several kinds of precious and other metals? For example:

An investor called us because he owned an antique pendant which, while made of silver, had gold surface decorations that were appliqued to its surface. Now that was a problem. How could we determine how much gold was there, what it weighed and what it was worth? It was not a problem for us – we were able to separate the gold from the silver and issue a report of their value at current trading prices. Although it seemed like an insurmountable challenge to that investor, it was not a problem for a precious metal refinery like ours.

Other Common Examples of Mixed Scrap

That is only one example of a mixed-metal reprocessing project that was easy for us, even though it might have looked nearly impossible to a “man in the street” investor.

Here are some other examples of complex, blended scrap that we can recycle for you:

  • Thermocouples that contain silver and platinum in the same structures as copper and even aluminum.

  • Sputtering targets, containing gold and base metals, which were used in plasma plating processes.

  • Jewelry that was made by plating gold over silver or even base metals like zinc.

  • Jewelry which, like the pendant we described earlier, has gold or silver decorations applied to the surface.

  • Tie tacks, decorative and commemorative pins and other small items that have been plated or decorated with gold accents.

  • Gold plated and gold-filled watch cases.

Few Testing and Recycling Processes Are Too Complex for Us!

Whatever kind of gold scrap, platinum scrap or silver scrap you have – even scrap that contains a mixture of different metals – we can test it for you and separate the precious metals it contains!
